Discovering marmots on Fertazza Peak

In summer, the meadows below the Fertazza chairlifts become a haven for marmots: they are easy to spot, especially in the early morning or late afternoon.

During the summer, the alpine meadows beneath the Fertazza chairlifts become home to one of the Dolomites' most endearing animals: the alpine marmot.

These small rodents live in high mountain meadows, where they dig long tunnels in the ground to create safe burrows. In the Fertazza meadows, it is easy to spot them sunbathing, chasing each other among the rocks or alerting each other with their characteristic high-pitched whistle, used to warn the group of any danger.

Climbing up with the Fertazza chairlifts and carefully observing the meadows below the lifts and along the paths, it is common to see marmots, especially in the early morning or late afternoon, when they are most active.
