Monte Fertazza, in the heart of Val Fiorentina and the Ski Civetta area, is an ideal destination for hiking and exploring the Dolomites. An extensive network of trails winds through forests, clearings and alpine meadows, offering spectacular views of Monte Pelmo, Monte Civetta, Marmolada and Lake Alleghe.
Many hiking routes can be accessed directly from the Pescul chairlift car park in Selva di Cadore, a convenient starting point for exploring Monte Fertazza and the surrounding mountains.
CAI trail 569: from Pescul towards Monte Fertazza
One of the most characteristic routes is CAI trail 569, which climbs from Pescul through beautiful woodland towards Monte Fertazza, reaching the Ristoro Fertazza area. From here, hikers can continue towards higher elevations along marked trails.
As the trail climbs, the landscape gradually changes: forests give way to clearings and alpine meadows, while magnificent views of the Dolomite peaks unfold.
At 2,101 metres above sea level, Cima Fertazza is one of the area’s most rewarding panoramic destinations, offering exceptional views of Monte Pelmo, Monte Civetta and the surrounding mountains.
Monte Fertazza on foot or by chairlift
One of the highlights of Monte Fertazza is the opportunity to tailor your hiking experience, choosing to explore entirely on foot or use the summer chairlifts.
The Pescul–Fertazza chairlift connects Pescul with the Ristoro Fertazza area, while the second Fertazza chairlift takes visitors close to the summit, Ristoro Belvedere and the Deer of Fertazza, the impressive wooden sculpture created by Marco Martalar.
Visitors can take both chairlifts or just one section, combining a lift ride with hiking uphill or downhill. This flexibility is particularly appealing for those wishing to reduce the elevation gain, spend more time enjoying the scenery or choose a hike suited to their abilities.
Recommended hike: Rifugio Coldai and Lake Coldai
Among the most spectacular excursions starting from Pescul is the hike to Rifugio Coldai and Lake Coldai, beneath the imposing rock faces of Monte Civetta.
This mountain route leads through magnificent alpine landscapes to one of the best-known lakes in the Dolomites, set in an exceptionally beautiful natural environment.
